Ghost Lake Ice Sailing Club - Ghost Lake, AB
Have you been wistfully thinking you could stay sharp with your tacking and gibing skills in the off season, close to home, even if the lakes around here are a bit frozen? Well, look no further. Consider participating in ice sailing, which is where you can have a “boat”, basically a sled, with large „ice skating runners‟ on it, and a single main sail. Hoo boy, can you ever get some speed up with these little „hot rods‟. Check out the local ice boating club, located on Ghost Lake west of Calgary. Ghost Lake is located 17 kilometres west of Cochrane on the 1A highway, approximately 30 minutes from northwest Calgary. The lake holds two small islands and several protective coves. The Ghost Lake Provincial Recreation Area features newly reconstructed (2007) launch facilities, Ghost Lake Recreations chandlery and boat yard, and overnight camping.
