The Calgary Squadron
of the Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons is part of a nationwide
non-profit organization emphasizing boating education and offering accredited boating courses. Visit the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons national website to learn more about Canada's largest association of boating enthusiasts. Volunteer instructors have been providing boating instruction to Canadians since 1938. Calgary Power and Sail Squadron instructors offer boating classes at the introductory through advanced levels. Basic Boating and Safe Navigation ("the boating course") is Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons' premier course for the recreational boater and includes material and exam for the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). Other courses include Piloting, Advanced Piloting, Marine Maintenance, Radio Operator (Marine), Fundamentals of Weather, GPS, Celestial Navigation, Depth Sounder, Seamanship, Extended Cruising, Electronic Charting and RADAR for Pleasurecraft. In addition, Intructor Training (IT) and Officer Training are offered to CPS members at no charge. The squadron hosts a social event on the 4th Tuesday of most months, featuring a guest speaker, which is open to the public. Special events are planned throughout the year. Check the website Activities section for updates. CPS Calgary Members receive "Lookout", the monthly newsletter. |
