The Calgary Squadron of the Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons (CPS) is part of a nationwide non-profit organization specializing in boating education. Volunteer CPS instructors have been providing boating instruction to Canadians since 1938.
Calgary Power and Sail Squadron instructors offer boating classes at the introductory through advanced levels. Basic Boating and Safe Navigation ("the boating course") is Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons' premier course for the recreational boater and includes material and exam for the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). Other courses include Piloting, Advanced Piloting, Marine Maintenance, Radio Operator (Marine), Fundamentals of Weather, GPS, Celestial Navigation, Depth Sounder, Seamanship, Extended Cruising, Electronic Charting and RADAR for Pleasurecraft. In addition, Intructor Training (IT) and Officer Training are offered to CPS members at no charge.

Membership requirements and benefits: full membership requires successful completion of the Basic Boating & Safe Navigation/Boating Course examination or approval by CPS National HQ Membership Department* of acceptable equivalent Courses or Professional Mariner standings. An associate membership requires successful completion of the Boatpro/PCOC course qualifying examination.
